Created in 1948, Gabriel Dussurget programmed concerts in Archbishop’s square, a concert in the Saint-Sauveur’s cathedral and in other locations around the town. It is worth noting that in addition to these concerts, Dussurget programs an opera, Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, a work that was at the time unknown to the French audience.
From 1998 to 2006, Stéphane Lissner creates a new project. Archbishop’s square is completely renovated and is from then on called Archbishop’s theater and he starts stage and costumes classes in Venelles. In addition he initiated the construction project for the new Great Theater of Provence inaugurated in 2007. Since 2007, Bernard Foccroule is the festival director and welcomes up to 65,000 spectators.
