Program notes

The Philharmonie de Paris presents a superb evening of music dedicated to French pedagogue, pianist, and composer Nadia Boulanger, with a program of works for cello and piano. On the stage are none other than Astrig Siranossian and Nathanaël Gouin, rising stars of classical music who just released an album titled « Dear Mademoiselle » - A Tribute to Nadia Boulanger , featuring the great Daniel Barenboim.

Boulanger was a pioneer in more than one way, she was notably the first woman to conduct some of the world's premier orchestras, but her most enduring legacy is without doubt her work as a teacher. Her devotion to her students and her talent for shining a light on their qualities are legendary to this day, as illustrated by this concert's program which includes not only work by Boulanger, but also by her students Elliott Carter and Astor Piazzolla, as well as her friends Igor Stravinsky and Camille Saint-Saëns!
