Pretty Yende and James Vaughan perform melodies from the 19th and 20th centuries

Pretty Yende, the new opera star, will give a recital at the Verbier church, broadcast live on medici.tv!

29 year-old South African soprano Pretty Yende has already won many international competitions, such as Plácido Domingo's prestigious Operalia Competitition, where she won three prizes (the first prize, the zarzuela prize, and the prize from the public) – the final round of the competition was broadcast live on medici.tv. She masters the italian belcantist repertoire, and made her international debut with great success at the New York City Metropolitan Opera last year, accepting a replacement part at the last minute in Le Comte Ory with Juan Diego Flórez. After this, she was a guest at the Theater an der Wien, at the Milan Teatro alla Scala, at the Liceu in Barcelone, at the Festival de Zurich,... In a word, a rising star!

It is the first time that Pretty Yende performs at the Verbier Festival, and medici.tv will be there. With Irish pianist James Vaughan, the soprano gives a recital of Spanish zarzuelas, American musicals, and French and Italian melodies.
