Program notes

The extraordinary Château de Chantilly welcomes a superstar cast—including the great Martha Argerich, just in time for her 80th birthday—for two days of world-class music, Les Coups de Coeur à Chantilly!

To open the festivities, the excellent Theodosia Ntokou and Cristina Marton-Argerich perform Saint-Saëns's Polonaise for Two Pianos. Next up, superstar virtuoso Evgeny Kissin takes to the stage for a spectacular solo selection, including three beloved works by Chopin and Gershwin's soulful and jazzy Three Preludes. One piano legend cedes the stage to another as the incredible Martha Argerich first joins Ntokou in Shostakovich's spirited Concertino for Two Pianos, and then violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov in two of Kreisler's subtle works, Liebesleid and Schön Rosmarin, a perfect note on which to end a high-class evening of music.
