Program notes

András Schiff has the unique ability to make music come alive, to breathe and to dance, so realistically and vividly that it can every make us forget that he's playing the piano. He is not just a great pianist, but a musician in the truest sense of the word, and a true artist. His interpretations are always more than just performances, they are thoughtful explorations of the score.

Performed as part of the prestigious Bachfest in Leipzig in 2010, this program features Bach’s six French Suites, originally composed for harpsichord and intended to accompany live dancing, as well as his Orchestral Suite in B minor, also written in a distinctly French style.
