About
A percussionist at the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Hugues Tremblay got in 2001 with unanimous support the 1st prize of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. Afterwards he studied under the care of Serge Desgagné at the Université de Montréal to prepare postgraduate studies in percussions and orchestral repertoire. Like Andrei Malashenko, Hugues Tremblay had the opportunity to improve alongside Louis Charbonneau, who had been timpanist of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal during several decades. He has also been taught by Rainer Seegers, timpanist in the Berliner Philharmoniker and by Werner Thärichen who had been principal timpanist of the Berliner Philharmoniker in particular at the times it was conducted by Herbert von Karajan.
