The Quatuor Arod performs Mozart, Beethoven, Debussy, and Haydn

Enjoy the excellence of the renowned Arod Quartet in this concert filmed by the great Bruno Monsaingeon, whose documentary on their fascinating musical process can also be found on medici.tv! Founded in 2013 by four passionate artists at the prestigious Paris Conservatory, the Arod Quartet now ranks among the finest chamber music ensembles of its generation, enjoying sustained and well-earned international success.

On the program: Mozart's "Dissonance" Quartet No. 19, whose nickname refers to the work's surprisingly avant-garde harmonic inventiveness of this work, in which the composer ventured far beyond the usual sound palette of his time. This quartet is dedicated to Joseph Haydn, "the father of the string quartet," who is also honored here with a rendition of the Andante from the D-minor "Fifths" Quartet Op. 76, No. 2, which concludes the evening in style. On the way, Beethoven's "Serioso" Quartet and the impressionistic colors of Debussy's String Quartet in G minor round out an exquisite moment of music at the Fondation Singer-Polignac.
