О программе

The choreographer Angelin Preljocaj explains the artistic choices in his creation le Songe de Médée, for the Opéra national de Paris in 2004.

Brigitte Lefèvre, the director of the Ballet of the Opéra de Paris is used to working with choreographer Angelin Preljocaj, in this documentary they both explain the context of this collaboration. For his third creation at the Opéra de Paris, Preljocaj wanted to work on a strong feminine figure. He chose the character of Medea and the moral and philosophical issues it tackles. This myth carries a universal and timeless dimension which the choreographer wanted to develop in a ballet.

Le songe de Médée, which breaks taboos and expresses desires of the female body is associated with MC 14/22, another ballet by Preljocaj which focuses on the male body. According to him, the diptych expresses the inevitable materiality of movements in contemporary dance, as abstract as they can appear.
