О программе

For the first time in its history, medici.tv is live from the Auditori in Barcelona, for a symphonic concert with Pablo González and the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC).

From the deep melancholy in which the well-known Adagio for Strings, by American composer Samuel Barber, is steeped to the pathos which gives Symphony no. 6 by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky its name, it is clear that there is a great time and cultural separation. Despite this, the lyricism with which both composers explore human sensitivity – taking the most passionate and poignant fibre of humankind – have made their work two of the most admired and popular scores in the western catalogue. Positioned between these two works, we find one of this season's premières, commissioned from the Zaragoza composer Jesús Torres, one of Spain's most prolific contemporary creators.

Barber's Adagio is played courtesy of G. Schirmer/music sales grup.
Torres' work is performed courtesy of Éditions Tritó
