О программе

As a tribute to the Italian cinema, this concert, presented by Martin Scorsese, brings together in one evening some of the greatest compositions of the second half of the 20th century. Renée Fleming, Josh Groban and Joshua Bell are reunited on stage alongside the New York Philharmonic, conducted by Alan Gilbert, to perform works by Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Luis Bacalov...

There’s so much great music written for film, and to hear it played live by the New York Philharmonic is an amazing experience. The best film music is expressive and dramatic, which are the qualities that you look for all the time in music. The chance to make it come alive and paint pictures for the audiences is something I relish and love. – Alan Gilbert

While some of the works on the program, which may be unfamiliar to the general public, introduce us to new composers, others, such as those of Nino Rota or Ennio Morricone, evoke the unforgettable masterpieces of Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti and Sergio Leone. It is a return to music embedded within their filmography, brilliantly led by Alan Gilbert.
