О программе

Grab your front-row seat on a trip to outer space! The National Symphony Orchestra and its Music Director Gianandrea Noseda present a Season Opening Gala Concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, performing a thrilling selection of extraorbital works: movements from Holst’s The Planets, Leopold Stokowski’s arrangement of Debussy's Clair de lune, and excerpts from a new work by Michael Giacchino, the Academy Award-winning film composer (Star Wars: Rogue One, the Star Trek trilogy). Superstar violinist Joshua Bell joins the party to perform celestially-inspired compositions for his instrument, including Sarasate’s "Introduction and Habañera" from Carmen Fantasy and Zigeunerweisen, Dvořák’s “Song to the Moon” from Rusalka, and Ponce’s Estrellita.
