О программе

“You see, this story is your story, one that questions me. And this story is my story, one that responds to you. This is our common story. The story of Adam is the story of all mankind. And it is one of tragedy.” (Arvo Pärt) In the first collaboration between Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and American stage director Robert Wilson, two “masters of slow motion” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) join forces to tell the story of all mankind with Adam’s Passion. Experience the captivating 2015 opera in its world premiere performance!

Framed by the striking surroundings of an erstwhile submarine factory in Tallinn, the mystical music of Arvo Pärt casts its contemplative spell as part of this 21st-century Gesamtkunstwerk. Light, movement, and space interweave with four compositions by Pärt: Adam’s Lament, Tabula rasa, Miserere, and his new work Sequentia. Pärt and Wilson’s artistic visions are brought to life by the performances of Michalis Theophanous, Lucinda Childs, and the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir under the direction of Tõnu Kaljuste.
