XV Concurso Internacional Chaikovski: Gran concierto de apertura

On this landmark occasion, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, under the baton of Vladimir Fedoseyev, will be accompanied by some of the best contemporary Russian musicians. These will include such rising stars of the new generation of Russian pianists, Daniil Trifonov (1st prize and Grand Prix of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition), an outstanding performer who has already shone in the worlds premier venues (Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and many others) and who has appeared several times on medici.tv.

Another young child prodigy is alongside him, pianist Alexander Malofeev, only aged 14, who has been awarded several prizes at international young talents competitions – including the All-Russian competition Young Talents of Russia in 2013 and the VIII International Tchaikovsky Youth Competition for which he was awarded the 1st prize and Gold Medal.

Also playing is the young violinist Georgy Ibatulin, winner of the XV International Television Contest for Young Musicians "The Nutcracker," and the mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina. Borodina is a soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre and Tchaikovsky Competition jury member –, a specialist of the Russian repertoire and regular guest of the most prestigious operas and orchestras around the world.

The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow - the First orchestra of the National Radio and considered one of the best orchestras in the world - is conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev. He is the Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, constantly receiving praise from critics for the distinction and the uniqueness of his programs. Moreover, within this esteemed orchestra, many young talents have been discovered, among them, Evgeny Kissin, Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin.

On this night, they will perform a wonderful and exciting program, completely dedicated to Piotr Illitch Tchaikovsky, whose 175th anniversary we celebrate this year.
