Sobre el programa...
The great Hungarian musician Gábor Takács-Nagy, names music director of the Manchester Camerata this year, conducts a programme which brings together two composers deeply influenced by the drama of written and spoken word.
Benjamin Britten brings Rimbaud's Les Illuminations to life with an extraordinary world of string sonorities. Mozart's incredibly intuitive understanding of human emotion and drama is demonstrated in a selection of arias sung by soprano Rebecca Bottone. The programme finishes with Mozart's intensely emotional 40th symphony.
As part of Manchester Literature Festival, poet Michael Symmons Roberts will narrate a new work inspired by this evening's programme of music.
This webcast will be the first live recording of the Manchester Camerata conducted by its new music director, Gábor Takács-Nagy.
