An exceptional concert with Augustin Dumay and Maria João Pires featuring the young musicians of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
Founded in 1939, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel is a musical institution offering every year to fifty young and talented musicians the opportunity to learn with the greatest contemporary perfomers in the fields of singing, piano, violin, cello and chamber music. This very high-level music laboratory is combined with a series of international concerts allowing the young artists to earn a worldwide fame.
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Music Chapel, the BOZAR (Brussels, Belgium) hosts both masters and soloists in residence during a gala concert, in the company of their Majesties the King Albert II and the Queen Paola. Augustin Dumay, Maria João Pires, Esther Yoo and Hrachya Avanesyan join forces with Julien Libeer, Deborah Pae, Aleksandra Orlowska, Liya Petrova and Julien Brocal for an eclectic concert programme featuring works by Mozart to Franz Waxman. This concert reflects the ambition of the Music Chapel: to train accomplished musicians, to share with the younger generation the experience of internationally renowned artists.
The Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie is conducted by its former music director, the violinist and conductor Augustin Dumay, lying within the Belgium tradition represented by Eugène Ysaÿe.
