Sobre el programa...

Boris Berezovsky pays a tribute to his friend and chamber music partner Brigitte Engerer, the great French pianist, who died on June 23.

After obtaining first prize at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP), Brigitte Engerer was rewarded at the Long-Thibaud Competition while she was only 17. Afterwards, she left France to go and study at the Moscow Conservatory under Stanislav Neuhaus, who was her teacher during nine years. Thus, Brigitte Engerer could benefit from an experience which gave her huge technical abilities as well as a special taste for the Russian repertoire, to which her vast discography is not restricted. Boris Berezovsky, who was her friend and partner on stage, pays tribute to her with works by Medtner, Chopin and Ravel, on the stage of the Auditorium du Louvre, where the pianist had played a few times.

Monique Devaux, artistic director for the concerts at the Louvre Auditorium: Brigitte Engerer left before she could play the Pictures at an exhibition, a score of which she wished to give a further and new reading. She liked to play in recital at the Louvre, "surrounded and supported by a close and faithful audience," as she used to say. We will pay tribute to the "grande dame du piano" with her friend Boris Berezovsky.

Musée du Louvre: Henri Loyrette, President Director; Monique Devaux, Concerts Artistic Director.
