Program notes

Experience Shakespeare like never before at the Staatskapelle Dresden:  Christian Thielemann conduct's Verdi's masterpiece Otello!

José Cura sensationally interprets the title-role of the general driven mad by jealousy, in an intrigue led by Dorothea Röschmann in the role of his wife Desdemona, and Carlos Álvarez as the perfidious Iago. The work was created at Milan's La Scala in 1887, 70 years after the success of Rossini's Otello ossia il Moro di Venezia, whose popularity it immediately took over to become a fixture in opera houses the world over!
