Program notes

Jazz virtuoso Joey Alexander returns to Paris's Fondation Louis Vuitton for a dynamite trio with bassist Kristopher Funn and drummer Jonathan Barber! After making a grand entrance on the scene at the Master-Jam Fest in Ukraine at the tender age of nine (!) and receiving international attention for his excellent album My Favorite Things two years later, the Indonesian pianist has continued his meteoric ascent to the top of the jazz world, having released his seventh album (all before his 21st birthday) Continuance in November 2023.

In his remarkable compositions marked by diverse influences (from John Mayer to Burt Bacharach to Ennio Morricone), and his reprises of standards like "I Can't Make You Love Me" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," Alexander demonstrates once again his jaw-dropping talent as a songwriter and improviser. This concert, a riveting meeting of the minds between three world-class musicians, is the perfect occasion to make the (re)acquaintance of a young star on the rise, already considered one of the greatest jazz pianists of our day.
