Ever since his 2015 win at the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, French pianist Lucas Debargue has won over audiences worldwide with his astonishing talent and profound musical sensitivity, making him one of the most captivating performers of his generation. Witness his piano mastery in this recital at the 2026 Verbier Festival, where he performs a selection of Domenico Scarlatti’s spirited sonatas, as well as Beethoven’s irresistibly moody Moonlight Sonata. He then draws out the chiaroscuro qualities of Liszt’s Ballade No. 2 before demonstrating the full range of his skills as both performer and composer with his own variations on “Summertime,” the melancholic air from George Gershwin’s beloved Porgy and Bess and one of the most memorable tunes by the American composer.
