Giorgi Gigashvili performs solo improvisations on themes by Rachmaninov

Don’t miss the Tsinandali Festival 2023! Every year since 2019, the greatest performers, conductors, composers, and artists from all over the world have joined forces for 10 days in the magnificent village of Tsinandali, in eastern Georgia, to promote music in this region at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The 2023 edition features a special celebration of the great Sergei Rachmaninov, marking 150 years since the legendary Romantic composer's birth.

It is to Rachmaninov that the excellent Giorgi Gigashvili, a young prodigy from Tbilisi, dedicates this piano recital! The virtuoso, winner of the second prize at the highly prestigious Rubinstein International Piano Competition 2023 (a competition which awarded prizes to artists like Khatia Buniatishvili, Daniil Trifonov, Igor Levit, and Emanuel Ax) exhibits his technique and creativity in a series of improvisations on themes by the Russian Romantic master.
