Thomas Adès and Pekka Kuusisto perform Janáček, Adès, Stravinsky, and Ravel

Live from the famous Fondation Louis Vuitton, the great composer and pianist Thomas Adès and violin virtuoso Pekka Kuusisto perform a program showcasing a century of piano and violin duets, from 1922 to 2021!

They kick things off with a piece by one of the pianist’s most beloved composers: Janáček’s Violin Sonata. Then, get ready for a world premiere: Märchentänze for violin and piano by Thomas Adès himself. We then travel back to the beginning of the 20th century with Stravinsky’s marvelous “Duo concertant” for Violin and Piano! Next, Adès and Kuusisto close this breathtaking evening with a performance of Ravel’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2. With a program that mixes masterpieces from the 20th century with contemporary pieces, Adès and Kuusisto offer a wonderful reflection on a rich repertoire!
