Program notes

Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann are programmed on this concert from the 2018 Verbier Festival. Under the baton Sir András Schiff, the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra begins with a jewel of Mozart’s œuvre, the Symphonie concertante K. 364. They are joined by one of the newest young stars of the violin, Vilde Frang, and the acclaimed violist Tabea Zimmermann. Then, Sir András Schiff and Tabea Zimmermann take on a selection of works for viola and piano: Schumann’s Märchenbilder and Brahms’s Viola Sonata No. 1 in F Minor, Op. 120.
