Program notes

The 150th anniversary of a venue as iconic as Paris's Palais Garnier calls for a lineup of star power and world-beating musicianship, and that's exactly what this 2025 gala brings as six Rolex Testimonees share the legendary scene with a renowned Rolex partner, the Vienna Philharmonic: conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, piano virtuoso Yuja Wang, tenors Juan Diego Flórez and Rolando Villazón, bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, and soprano Sonya Yoncheva. While Yuja tackles the sweepingly romantic first movement of Tchaikovsky's behemoth Piano Concerto in B-flat Minor, the superb singers perform a highlight reel of operatic favorites — from solo arias like the Habanera from Carmen and the Cavatina from Aleko to the beloved "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" from La Traviata — and even the inspirational "Impossible Dream" from Man of La Mancha. Celebrate one of the world's most storied stages in unforgettable style!

All proceeds from this concert were donated to the youth lyric orchestra of the Paris Opera. Through its Perpetual Arts initiative, Rolex fosters music by supporting renowned artists and institutions, celebrating excellence and empowering new generations, who in turn perpetuate the world's artistic heritage.
