Program notes

Philippe Jaroussky, one of the greatest countertenors alive, teams up with conductor-violinist Julien Chauvin and the excellent musicians of his ensemble Le Concert de la Loge, for a Baroque extravaganza filmed at the stunning Royaumont Abbey outside Paris spotlighting masterpieces by Italian legends Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Durante, and Pergolesi!

Among other highlights, Jaroussky performs Vivaldi's cantata Nisi Dominus, one of his signature pieces, and—for the first time—Pergolesi's sublime Salve Regina. All throughout this impeccably realized concert, Jaroussky's voice blends seamlessly with the world-class artists of Le Concert de la Loge, their harmonies echoing richly throughout the historic space.
