Program notes

Join medici.tv at Paris's Salle Gaveau for an astonishing recital by leading American soprano Nadine Sierra, one of the brightest lights of today’s most prestigious opera stages! Alongside Mathieu Herzog and his widely acclaimed orchestra Appassionato, the sensational Sierra sings a marvelously varied program of songs and arias in no fewer than six languages, with highlights from the oeuvres of Gounod in French (including “Je veux vivre” from Romeo and Juliet); Puccini and Verdi in Italian (with “Caro nome” from Rigoletto and “Mi chiamano Mimi” from La Bohème); Mozart in German (the sublime “Ruhe sanft” from Zaide); Bernstein and Giménez in Spanish (with the acrobatic "Me llaman la primorosa"); Villa-Lobos in Portuguese (the exquisite “Melodia sentimental,” one of Sierra’s signature pieces); and Bernstein once again in English (the wrenchingly beautiful “Somewhere” from West Side Story).

The global scope of her program, entitled "Make Our Planet Great," reflects thematic resonances of nature and ecology, and some proceeds from the event will go toward the Fondation Positive Planet, fighting poverty and creating stable jobs for young people. Talent like Sierra’s comes along only rarely—don’t miss the chance to spend an evening falling under the spell of her unique, richly colorful voice!
