Program notes

Under the dome of the Grandes Écuries (Great Stables) at the beautiful Château de Chantilly, the Quatuor Modigliani invites you to an evening of Debussy, Ravel, Mozart, and Schubert, interpreted in collaboration with prodigious pianists Martha Argerich, Stephen Kovacevich, and Iddo Bar-Shaï, as well as world-renowned cellist Edgar Moreau, for the 2023 edition of the Coups de Cœur à Chantilly!

Throughout this evening devoted to chamber music, a program of rare beauty opens with Debussy's Lindaraja for two pianos and En blanc et noir, performed with passion and virtuosity by Martha Argerich and Stephen Kovacevich. The melodies continue with Iddo Bar-Shaï and Edgar Moreau in Debussy's Beau soir, followed by the Quatuor Modigliani's rendition of Maurice Ravel's poetic Quartet in F major. Bar-Shaï then returns to perform in Mozart's magnificent Piano Quartet No. 1 in G Minor alongside the award-winning quartet. The concert ends on the most elegant of notes, with a romantic and delicate Menuet by Schubert.
