Lang Lang — Pianist

Program notes

Lang Lang, the world renowned pianist, gives an exceptional recital with works composed by Beethoven, Prokofiev, Albéniz and Chopin.

Aged 11 only, Lang Lang received the First Prize at the fourth International Competition for Young Pianists in Ettlingen, Germany, and two years later he won the first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in Japan. These early successes made Lang Lang's reputation worldwide. Since then, the young virtuoso has been invited to perform with the most prestigious orchestras (the BBC Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Philadelphia Ochestra, ...). Along with his intense musical career, Lang Lang has been committed to philanthropical organisations, such as the UNICEF, of which he has been appointed "Goodwill Ambassador."

Lang Lang – The Third Dimension presents an intimate and confidential Lang Lang, performing the first movement of the Appassionata Sonata by Beethoven, the last movement of Prokofiev's Sonata for piano No. 7, Isaac Albéniz's "Evocation" from the first Iberia Book and Chopin's Polonaise No. 6 in A flat Major Op. 53, "Heroic" Chopin.
