Rachmaninov International Orchestra

Kent Nagano — Conductor

Program notes

From the Rosey Concert Hall in Rolle, Switzerland, maestro Kent Nagano leads the Rachmaninov International Orchestra in selections from the opera Plump Jack by American composer Gordon Getty! Enjoy the overture from the two-act opera based on Shakespeare's Falstaff, praised for its "urgency, sharpness of attack, and determination in the writing that excites the ear" (Opera Now), as well as two arias: "No, My Good Lord," featuring baritone Lester Lynch, and the Hostess's Aria, performed by soprano Alexandra Armantrading.

Find out more about Gordon Getty in There Will Be Music, a documentary by Peter Rosen, and watch maestro Nagano and the RIO again at the Rosey Concert Hall with Mikhail Pletnev in a marathon of Rachmaninov concertos!
