The Dresden Staatskapelle, Saxon State Opera Choir, and Frauenkirche Chamber Choir join forces to celebrate the New Year in this splendid 2019 Advent concert! The program features a rich repertoire of works by Handel, Haydn, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and others. From Handel’s Suite No. 2 in D Major to Mozart’s Mass in C Minor, all the way through to Haydn’s Creation, this concert offers an extraordinary performance of some of the most beloved sacred music ever written.
To pull off this spectacular event, three magnificent ensembles are reunited under the skilful baton of conductor Alondra de la Parra and choir conductors Matthias Grünert and Jan Hoffmann in Dresden’s magnificent Frauenkirche. The three soloists—sopranos Regula Mühlemann, Julia Muzychenko, and tenor Julian Prégardien—demonstrate their virtuosity and artistry in this program with “quiet, contemplative passages, and breathtakingly emotional, dramaturgically coherent moments: a real gift,” in the words of the Sächsische Zeitung.
