Program notes

The InClassica International Music Festival continues at the Dubai Opera! Under the baton of Daniel Raiskin, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra performs the celebrated overture of The Barber of Seville by Rossini. The talented Fumiaki Miura then takes the stage to play Alexey Shor’s Phantasms (Violin Concerto No. 2), first premiered in June 2021, full of violin chords that blend perfectly with the orchestral lines in a lively rhythm that dazzles the audience. Finally, the orchestra concludes the evening with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, a mysterious and stirring work featuring rich and contrasting melodies. The Czech master composed the work between 1884 and 1885, on a commission from the London Philharmonic Society, just as he was beginning to establish his international reputation.
