To young pianists seeking to make a name for themselves, there may be no prize more coveted than a medal at the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw — a contest that has helped launch the international careers of huge names like Martha Argerich, Maurizio Pollini, Garrick Ohlsson (the chair of this year's jury), Krystian Zimerman, Gabriela Montero, Yundi Li, Daniil Trifonov, Seong-Jin Cho, and more.
