Program notes
Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony No. 1 premiered in 1889, marking the start of one of the greatest symphonic collections in history, and including many of the hallmarks of Mahler’s symphonies to come — including the use of Austrian folk dances and German Lieder and a colossal symphonic sound. The celebrated Alondra de la Parra and her Impossible Orchestra, an ensemble that brings together soloists and musicians from the world’s best orchestras, recreate that colossal sound on a grand scale with passion, precision, and Mahlerian force at this unmissable evening from the 2025 Festival Paax GNP.
Created by Alondra de la Parra and nestled in the paradise of the Mexican Caribbean, the Festival Paax GNP comes to medici.tv for its 2025 edition, and you can catch four live broadcast concerts all with the extraordinary Impossible Orchestra and internationally renowned soloists in symphonic favorites, contemporary classics, and thrilling world premieres, plus special features produced by medici.tv!
