The celebrated Georgian men’s choir Ensemble Rustavi performs traditional music from its native land! Founded in 1968 by Anzor Erkomaishvili—folk singer and heir to a long line of traditional singers—the Ensemble Rustavi performs a wide range of different Georgian folk music styles with a focus on remaining true to the original traditions, and accompanied by folk instruments from numerous different regions. 

Genuine virtuosos of polyphony, the ensemble performs historical, lyrical, and comical songs, religious hymns, work songs, and dance songs in the dialects of Georgia’s various historical regions. With this performance, the audience travels across the entire country, with the journey culminating quite far afield: the last song on the program, Chakrulo, was sent into space in 1977 by NASA!
