Histoire
Dutch National Opera is based in Amsterdam and has been presenting acclaimed opera productions since 1965. The company is known for its wide-ranging repertoire: from fresh interpretations of the classics to rarely performed works and brand-new commissions. Since the 2018-2019 season, Sophie de Lint has been its artistic director.
In both 2016 and 2023, Dutch National Opera was named Best Opera Company at the International Opera Awards. In the 2025-2026 season the company celebrates two important mile stones: its 60th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the Opera Forward Festival, established in 2016 as a platform for new voices and young talent.
