The dramatic twists and turns of Giordano's Fedora light up the prestigious stage of the Deutsche Oper Berlin in a new staging by Christof Loy, starring Lithuanian soprano Vida Miknevičiūtė as the eponymous princess and American tenor Jonathan Tetelman as Ipanov! Fedora follows Ipanov from St. Petersburg to Paris, intent on bringing him to justice for the murder of her betrothed Vladimir — but when she discovers Vladimir is the truly guilty party and takes Ipanov as a lover, will it be too late to stop the tragic machine she has set in motion? Though not as widely known as Giordano's Andrea Chénier, this psychodrama is an Italian verismo feast whose 1898 premiere in Milan helped launch the great Enrico Caruso to international fame with arias like "Amor ti vieta." Following widely lauded runs in Stockholm and Frankfurt, Loy's Fedora arrives in Berlin with a cast at the height of its powers and the excellent house orchestra and chorus led by expert opera conductor John Fiore.
