Sobre el programa...

The astonishing Boris Berezovsky, who has dazzled audiences worldwide since his commanding victory at the 1990 International Tchaikovsky Competition, returns to the stage of Paris's Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2015. Joining him onstage is virtuoso cellist Henri Demarquette, a frequent and trusted collaborator, in interpretations of two exceptional works: Debussy's sublime Cello Sonata and, opening the concert, the world premiere of a work by Russian composer Kuzma Bodrov.

After an interlude with a talented young pianist who performs an excerpt from Albéniz's Iberia, Berezovsky continues solo with the first of Richard Strauss's Fünf Klavierstücke, Op. 3. He then closes the evening in the grandest of styles, interpreting all twelve of Liszt's mesmerizing Transcendental Études—benchmarks of the piano repertoire, diabolically challenging from both a technical and emotive standpoint, executed with Berezovsky's characteristic flair.
