For this concert at the Sons d’Hiver Festival, Tony Allen vibrantly commemorates one of his greatest inspirations: drummer and composer Art Blakey, founder of Jazz Messengers, and an unparalleled musician in the history of jazz. Enjoy an exceptional evening with inventive arrangements revisiting the brilliant success of the great American drummer!

Nigerian drummer and composer Tony Allen is considered the founding father of Afrobeat. He invented this rhythm at the end of the 60s alongside Fela Kuti, with whom he recorded more than thirty albums. Pursuing a solo career, the drummer expands his musical horizons with electro, rock, Malian music, hip-hop, jazz, with celebrated artists including Seun Kuti, Manu Dibango, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Oumou Sangaré, and Damon Albarn.
