Thomas Dutronc is, without a doubt, one of those rare living legends who has already left an indelible mark on French music history. At the 2025 edition of the Jazz à Vienne festival in Vienne, France, Dutronc joins forces with two more of the greatest jazz guitarists alive, Stochelo Rosenberg and Rocky Gresset, to honor his father, Jacques Dutronc, and the legacy of 20th-century jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.
Thomas Dutronc was only 17 years old when he discovered the timeless genre of “manouche” guitar created by Reinhardt. French jazz guitarists Biréli Lagrène and Romane quickly noticed Dutronc’s budding talent and taught him the fundamentals of swing. The young star rose to success and saw several albums hit the top of the French charts. Over the course of his remarkable career, Dutronc has collaborated with many renowned artists in a variety of genres, including Iggy Pop, Diana Krall, Billy Gibbons, Youn Sun Nah, Stacey Kent, Jeff Goldblum, his childhood friend Matthieu “-M-” Chedid — and even his father, Jacques Dutronc, as a musical peer, having grown wholly into an exceptional artist in his own right.
