Théo Ceccaldi in Zurich

An eclectic performance from Théo Ceccaldi, performing compositions from the album Amanda Dakota—a whirlwind of different sounds and ideas, all happening at once. The group’s unusual instrumentation comprising various Saxophones, String instruments and drums culminates in a sometimes manic, sometimes synchronistic group sonority, and the artists experiment with all the different sounds they can possibly get out of their instruments. Ceccaldi’s compositions balance influences from many genres of music, most notably a somewhat Rock and Roll sound found in some of the pieces in this recording. The artists also create delicate, atmospheric soundscapes which contrast nicely. An exciting journey from France’s musician of the year in 2016, backed here by an extremely talented group of musicians.
