Program notes
The Orchestre National de Jazz and the Ensemble Intercontemporain invite you to a unique playing session, in this remarkable program conceived by composers Sofia Avramidou, Frédéric Maurin and Andy Emler.
Presented to mark the end of Frédéric Maurin's tenure as head of the Orchestre National de Jazz, which he has held since 2019, Jeux offers a fresh look at writing and improvisation. The three composers and the two ensembles confront their worlds, bringing together the characteristic rhythms of jazz and the singular sounds of contemporary music, and summoning new musical horizons. Instruments and sound textures become a rich and inexhaustible playground, taking the audience on an unprecedented playful experience.
