Jazzanitza in Sofia

Discover the performance of the Bulgarian jazz band Jazzanitza at the A to JazZ Festival in Sofia! The virtuoso musicians creatively combine Bulgarian music and jazz in an exhilerating blend of traditions.

Jazzanitza was formed in 2016 by drummer and composer Borislav Petrov. In recent years, the band strives to bring together the bebop jazz of the 40s with traditional Bulgarian music. The result is a skilful mix of traditional instruments, alongside irregular bars and chords inspired by Charlie Parker’s most famous compositions.
