Program notes
With the crew of the Live from Abbey Road Sessions, the Jazz@ series creates a space where musicians can really shine. The room is simple, the audience is small, the sound is great and the camera is 4K. Here, international artists from a mix of genres and cultures are able to get away from the noise and let their art breathe.
For this, the third installment of the series, Arun Ghosh and his sextet are first to take to the stage. Ghosh is a British-Asian Clarinettist, composer and bandleader whose numerous awards and high-profile fixtures have made him one to watch on the brave new world of the British jazz scene, remarkable for its multiculturalism and positivity. Here, Arun is joined by five stellar musicians for tracks that overflow with passion and virtuosity.
Next up is Cyrille Aimée, the French vocalist from just outside of Paris who won the Montreux Jazz Festival competition back in 2007 and appeared in the final of the prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition just three years later. Her style has previously been described as a blend of Michael Jackson and Sarah Vaughan.
