James Carter celebrates 100 years of John Coltrane

100 years after the birth of jazz legend John Coltrane, saxophonist James Carter pays tribute to one of the great masters of his instrument in Trane: A Centennial Supreme. For the occasion, Carter is joined by an expanded version of his Organ Trio, with Steve Turre on trombone, Gerard Gibbs on keyboard, Hilliard Greene on double bass, and Alex White on drums. The frontman lends his smooth, shimmering tone to the melodic lyricism of Coltrane’s subtler works and brings a powerful sonority to the energy-filled moments of his all-Coltrane program.
