Program notes

Relive Dee Dee Bridgewater & The Memphis Soulphony’s performance at the 2021 Bayfront Jazz Festival: a great lady of Jazz and Soul in a concert dedicated to the music and musicians of the city of Memphis, her hometown. A multi Grammy Award winner, she returns to the scene with works from her latest album, titled “Memphis… Yes, I’m Ready”.

On the stage, the joy of the jazz diva is immediately palpable. Accompanied by a remarkable group of musicians, she shares moments from her life as well as historic jazz works from Memphis, and also revisits classics of Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Funk and Rock’n Roll, such as Al Green’s I Can't Get Next To You, Ann Peebles’s I Can't Stand the Rain, Elvis Presley’s Don't Be Cruel, or B.B. King’s The Thrill Is Gone...
