Brad Mehldau — Pianist

Program notes

In this concert, Brad Mehldau continues the long tradition of the jazz standard, covering well-known songs and pieces—in this instance, by The Beatles and David Bowie—to reinterpret and reinvent them for improvisation.

The American pianist and composer Brad Mehlau is one of the greatest musicians of his generation. He is one of the few pianists who emerged in the 90s to become a major figure in the world of jazz. His numerous solo and trio recordings are a testament to his uniquely lyrical yet dynamic style, featuring unusually rich harmonies and an unconventional sense of rhythm.
