Just as the 2025 season at the Philharmonie de Paris comes to a close, the musicians of the Orchestre de Paris set off on a major tour of Asia: South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. At the heart of this journey, Saint-Saëns’s Symphony No. 3 “with organ” serves as a common thread, weaving through the twelve concerts conducted by Klaus Mäkelä. The documentary Mouvements accompanies the 120 members of the orchestra on this human and musical adventure, capturing the energy of the rehearsals, the precision of the fine-tuning, the dizzying logistics, and the intensity of the moment when, on stage, everything comes together in a single breath. But behind the power of the collective lies another reality: solitude. The solitude of the conductor facing the score, of the musicians facing their instruments, of each individual facing the demands of the concert and the pressure of the audience’s gaze.
