Program notes

Genius cellist and legendary artist Mstislav Rostropovich was one of the greatest figures of the 20th century. He enjoyed fame thanks to his talent and his humanistic commitment but endured oppression during the Cold War and years of exile spent in France. With interviews of his family, his friends and those who spent some time alongside Slava, the documentary tries to picture the admirable path taken in life by Mstislav Rostropovich, for whom the public maintains limitless admiration, even after his death.

Conductors, performers, choreographers... The "intimate" portrait series produced by Morgane goes back over the professional career of outstanding men and women, looking behind the artistic successes to unveil the personal dimension. These documentaries combine interviews, archive footages, and testimonies by close friends or young musicians inspired by these famous artists.
