The Mariinsky Theatre hosts a dance gala and concert for New Year 2007, performed in the Mariinsky 3 concert hall.
Valery Gergiev directs the Mariinsky Theatre orchestra to accompany the dancers in extracts from ballets by Tchaikovsky and the Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saens. The star soloist of this gala is pianist Yefim Bronfman, who performs Piano concerto no. 2 by Franz Liszt.
This documentary shows footage of the performance and rehearsals, on a tour of the wings at the historical theatre of St. Petersburg. The lead dancer of the Mariinsky Theatre ballet, Uliana Lopatkina, also grants us an interview.
