Join celebrated violinist Lisa Batiashvili at the Tsinandali Festival 2026, as she leads a magnificent string quartet — featuring violist Giorgi Mardaleishvili, cellist Mark Schumann, and pianist Giorgi Gigashvili — in a captivating chamber music program! The concert commences with the first two movements of Shostakovich’s Viola Sonata, Op. 147 — the composer’s soulful final work that was dedicated to Fyodor Druzhinin, violist of the Beethoven Quartet. Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango for solo cello follows suit, blending traditional tango rhythms, jazz-inspired syncopation, and classical technique. Vazha Azarashvili’s Nocturne creates a soundscape of lyrical melancholy, while Josef Bardanashvili’s P.S. to Gia is a touching, introspective tribute to the late Georgian composer Giya Kancheli. Concluding the performance are the final two movements of Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in F Minor. Written at the age of 14, this composition perfectly captures the charm and exuberant spirit of early Romantic chamber music.
