Program notes

Don’t miss the Tsinandali Festival 2023! Every year since 2019, the greatest performers, conductors, composers, and artists from all over the world have joined forces for 10 days in the magnificent village of Tsinandali, in eastern Georgia, to promote music in this region at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. The 2023 edition features a special celebration of the great Sergei Rachmaninov, marking 150 years since the legendary Romantic composer's birth.

In this recital, the immensely talented Nobu encourages us to daydream with an evocative program that begins with Beethoven’s legendary Moonlight Sonata. This is followed by some of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg’s most famous Lyric Pieces: the Arietta and Waltz of the first collection, the Erotic Poem of the second, the March of the Trolls and the Nocturne of the fifth, and the exquisite Wedding Day at Troldhaugen from the sixth. The pianist concludes this concert with two works by Liszt, an extract of his Consolations and the supplement to the Second Year of his Années de pèlerinage, which takes us on a journey to Venice and Naples...
